Our Brewers
Chad Kennedy – Head Brewer
Chad’s first fermentation experiment was in cider. Let’s just say you didn’t miss much. Next came a whole slew of homebrews, a few thousand pages of beer reading, training as a beer judge, a few homebrew awards, several years distributing beer and then Laurelwood. Chad’s been with us since January 2002. Since then he has been an integral part of Laurelwood’s success- helping us win a slew of awards and brewing great beer. In May 2006 Chad was awarded the Glen Hay Falconer scholarship to attend the World Brewing Academy’s Concise Course in Brewing Technology at the Siebel Institute in Chicago. In June 2006, Chad became Laurelwood’s Head Brewer. Chad is currently on the board of the Oregon Brewer’s Guild.

Paul Bergeman – Brewer
Paul also came to Laurelwood from a distributor background. Paul moved to Portland from Colorado- where in college he found his true occupational calling- beer. paul@laurelwoodbrewpub.com
Dustin Kellner- Brewer
Dustin is a California transplant but we don’t hold that against him. He’s worked at Santa Cruz brewing and Bridgeport Brewing. In the Fall of 2009, Dustin attended Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago where he hopes to verify that we really do know what we’re doing. dustin@laurelwoodbrewpub.com
Hans Gauger- Brewer
Hans started out at Laurelwood as an apprentice. After doing all our grunt work for us, he moved to Germany for a year where he worked at Weyermann Malting in Munich. There he got a chance to work with many of the famous lager breweries. They made him leave the country when he tried to introduce them to the use of American hops in beer. Not funny.
Orion Coleman- Assistant Brewer
Orion is our go to guy when it comes to everything in a keg. Oreo, as we like to call him, is the master of keg washing and cellar work. He’s also one of the most famous Hip Hop artists to come from the State of Wisconsin.
