Our Brewers
Chad Kennedy – Brewmaster
Chad’s first fermentation experiment was in cider. Let’s just say you didn’t miss much. Next came a whole slew of homebrews, a few thousand pages of beer reading, training as a beer judge, a few homebrew awards, several years distributing beer and then Laurelwood. Chad’s been with us since January 2002. Since then he has been an integral part of Laurelwood’s success- helping us win a slew of awards and brewing great beer. In May 2006 Chad was awarded the Glen Hay Falconer scholarship to attend the World Brewing Academys Concise Course in Brewing Technology at the Siebel Institute in Chicago. In June 2006, Chad became Laurelwood’s Head Brewer. Chad is currently on the board of the Oregon Brewer’s Guild.

Dustin Kellner- Lead Brewer
Dustin is a California transplant but we don’t hold that against him. He’s worked at Santa Cruz brewing and Bridgeport Brewing. In the Fall of 2009, Dustin attended Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago where he hopes to verify that we really do know what we’re doing.
Nick Phelps- Brewer
Not much is known of Nick before he came to Laurelwood Brewing Company in 2010. There is a good number of urban legends about Nick, such as he was raised by moonshiners and he once was once a top bike riding rum runner. Rumor has it he once walked from Chicago to Portland barefoot surviving only on a diet of Crystal Malt and Bavarian lager. In Portland’s Forest Park and in the brewery he is known as “Baboom” which means “Harry one of the forest.” He is a welcome addition!
Cameron Murphey- Assitant Brewer
Cameron is our go to guy when it comes to everything in a keg. Camma-lamma-ding-dong or Cameroon 5 as we like to call him, is the master of keg washing and cellar work. He’s also one of the most famous Hip Hop vocalist and Caddy Shack dancers in our brewery.
